Holyoke MA April 2, 2020: Having played an integral role in shaping the worldwide healthcare strategy for Cisco and serving as a strategist and business adviser to healthcare, managed care, and Fortune 500 technology companies for two decades, Barbara W. Casey has been named Chief Executive Officer of Nectar Strategic Consulting. Nectar is a division of GPMF Holdings, a growing healthcare technology ecosystem serving health systems throughout North America.
“Patients and clinicians shouldn’t be bound by technology. They should be freed by it,” says Casey, who has championed Cisco’s dramatic expansion of its healthcare practice capabilities since 2012. “We see Nectar playing a pivotal role in helping health systems to select and apply the proper technologies and to integrate them into the fabric of the healthcare delivery process.”
“Nectar is all about extracting the essence of digital health,” added Michael Feld, CEO of GPMF Holdings. “Many strategists talk technology but don’t truly understand it, don’t know how to align stakeholders or understand legacy systems. Nectar and the other companies within our ecosystem are specialists in applying technology to meet the challenges of the quadruple aim for healthcare delivery.”
As the Global Healthcare Leader for Cisco, Ms. Casey conceived of, built, and led the company’s healthcare focus into a multi-billion-dollar business. Prior to joining Cisco, she was charged with corporate strategic planning at HCA, Inc. where she facilitated the company’s broad Consumer and Patient Experience strategy and served as a consultative resource to the Central Group (55 hospitals in the Central US and 6 hospitals in London) and its divisions’ senior management teams. Ms. Casey was also the Chief Marketing Officer for the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), an Oncology Research organization where she was responsible for sales, business development, marketing, public relations, and communication functions. She assisted in the development and management of strategic relationships with leading large pharmaceutical and bio-tech organizations.
Casey will be joined in the Nectar executive suite by Dr. Neil Kudler, GPMF Chief Medical Officer and a former CMIO for Baystate Health in Springfield, Massachusetts and Senior Healthcare Innovation Strategist for TechSpring, Baystate’s technology innovation center.
